XPT (DLT5-600) Duct Leakage Tester
[DLT5-600]

New XPT Duct Leakage Testers. Includes our exclusive "HI/LO Scale" Adjustable Orifices for Unprecedented Versatility. "5 Year Unlimited Warranty & Product Support Included"

XPT Standard Duct Leakage Testers

XPT introduces our Standard Duct Leakage Testers that are only available through XPT. Our standard manually controlled, duct leakage testers utilize a blast gate inlet damper that can be manually adjusted to meet the required test pressure settings. All testers include our new, and exclusive "HI/LO" Scale " adjustable orifices, that provide unprecedented versatility like no other. XPT provides the most advanced, cost effective duct leakage testers on the market.

Setting up and configuring XPT duct leakage testers can be set up for either positive or negative duct pressurization testing which utilize our "Quick Seal" connection design. Each connection consists of a heavy gauge rolled lip collars that are designed to precisely sit flush and seal with matching hose adapter connection. The connection is then quickly locked and securely sealed with a "Forever Clamp" from "KBDuct". It is an "all welded" stainless clamp which is fitted with a heavy duty, continuously reusable O-ring sealing gasket which have no perforations to fatigue or tear. In fact the locking mechanism is so sturdy that have a forever guarantee.See the following photos showing XPT's manual pressure control damper and our "Quick Seal" connection design for configuring your tester for either positive or negative pressurization testing requirements.

XPT's Exclusive Adjustable Orifice Tubes

XPT's Adjustable Orifice Tubes were designed not only to meet the requirements specified by SMACNA HVAC Air Duct Leakage Test Manual; "Tester Guideline Requirements", but also provide our testers with unprecedented versatility like no other in the industry. With our adjustable orifices, you get two scales of operation. "HIGH SCALE provides a standard or "normal" readings that you would find on most fixed orifice testers. "LO SCALE" provides that extra versatility needed when fine tuning any system when it becomes tighter and more accurate readings are needed to read the lower cfm values. Also having a LO SCALE setting, allows our larger size testers to be used accurately on some smaller systems.

Configuring for HIGH SCALE Readings

Remove locking pin from locking hole on adjustable orifice.

Set adjustable orifice to “0" setting (or maximum open position)

Configuring for LO SCALE Readings

Set adjustable orifice to “7" setting (minimum position)

Insert locking pin into locking hole on adjustable orifice to secure setting

Each orifice tube is built from one piece, large gauge, welded seam galvanized steel tubes for long term durability and consistent operation of your duct tester. Each tube is matched with a specifically designed adjustable orifice flow sensor that reads the difference in pressure between the high "H" port and the low "L" port which is used to determine the air flow. The “H” port senses total pressure and the “L” port senses static pressure. The difference between these signals varies approximately with the square of the air velocity. This difference of pressure is measured with a manometer included with each duct leakage tester.  (See example calibration chart below)

Each duct leakage tester and adjustable orifice tube is individually tested and calibrated for each scale prior to shipment to our customers and come with a certificate of calibration which is traceable to NIST standards. From each calibration derives a unique calibration table which is used to determine airflow leakage versus the differential pressure readings from your duct leakage tester's manometer. XPT recommends calibration of your duct tester every 2 years. To help preserve your calibration between that time,  ensure that your duct leakage tester's differential tube, differential flow sensor, guages and connections remain undamaged and free from any debris or dirt.

Optional Sensocon Digital Guages

Sensocon series didgital gauges are a patent pending microprocessor based digital pressure gauge for positive, negative, and differential measurement designed to be a direct replacement for mechanical gauges. These gauges utilize an extremely stable piezoresistive sensing technology to give a standard full scale accuracy of 1%. For applications requiring better accuracy, they are also available with 0.5% accuracy. Sensocon gauges also has an optional 4-20 mA output for applications requiring an output signal. The A2 features a bright ½” LED display and process arch, which gives the gauge improved readability and precision. Each guage can be programed to provide direct cfm readings for simple use and operation. They also features 5 user selectable engineering units including in. w.c., mm w.c., cm w.c., kPa, and Pa. Sensocon gauges offer an improved look, performance and user friendly readouts compared to mechanical gauges.

Industry Demand

"Global Warming" has become a serious issue involving everyone and everything including the HVAC Industry. As this threat continues, state and federal regulations are continually changing and becoming more stringent in their energy guideline design requirements for HVAC designers . Because of this, HVAC systems are being more closely scrutinized than ever before and will continue to be as long as global warming continues to be a threat. With changes constantly being implemented into HVAC design guidelines, duct leakage requirements can be expected to be less than 1 percent of the total system CFM design. To meet the challenges of these ever changing requirements, XPT offers a new generation of duct leakage testers to meet these new challenges that face contractors in the HVAC industry today and tomorrow. Our duct leakage testers were not only designed to be more advanced and efficient, they were also designed to be economically priced for almost any kind of budget. We guarantee our testers with a 5-year warranty and product support to ensure your testers continually operate and satisfy all your testing requirement needs. Our standard line of testers can accommodate a variety of usage, including residential. light commercial, commercial & industrial systems. See the following illustrations below which shows how our Duct Leakage Testers are used in a typical Duct Systems.

High Pressure Fan Blowers

Every XPT Duct Leakage Tester comes with an AMCA type B spark resistant, high pressure fan blower which is initially setup and shipped to operate at 115-volts, single-phase, 50 or 60-Hertz power (except DLT8-1800 which can only be wired for 230-volts single-phase, 50 or 60-Hertz power). Fan blowers are also capable to operate at 230-volts, single-phase, 50 or 60-Hertz power and can be configured prior to delivery per customer request. If any of our standard duct leakage test kits do not satisfy any special testing requirements you might have, you can call us to special order and customize a duct leakage tester with a variety of other high pressure fan blowers to meet any special testing requirements you might have. To add even more flexibility to your duct leakage testing needs, a variety of fan blower wheels can be special ordered to change the operating parameters of your existing fan blower if needed. Call us at XPT for more information regarding special order requirements. To choose the right kit for you, See The Duct Leakage Test Kit Selection Chart for our standard  models located below:

SMACNA Duct Leakage Test Manual

To help you along with your testing needs, every duct leakage tester comes with the latest testing standards from SMACNA. A companion to HVAC Duct Construction Standards - Metal and Flexible, this manual contains duct construction leakage classification, expected leakage rates for sealed and unsealed ductwork, duct leakage test procedures, recommendations on use of leakage testing, types of test apparatus and test setup and sample leakage analysis. Also covered are orifice flow meter design and valuable references for fluid meter instrumentation. This manual is referenced in ASHRAE's Energy Conservation Standard 90.1. Identified as DALT by some government agencies.
